We see tab bars every day!

The tab bar can be transparent, has a background colour, stays the same height across all screen orientations, and disappears when a keyboard is shown. There is no limit to the total number of tabs that can be stored in a tab bar, however the number of tabs that are actually displayed will change depending on the screen size and orientation of the device. When there isn't enough room to show all of the tabs on the screen, the last visible tab changes into a More tab that opens a list of the hidden tabs on a new screen. This discussion on tab bars has gone on far too long..
